The Silfra Rift or simply known as Silfra is a phenomenon on this planet. It is the kind of beauty that everyone should probably see once in their lifetime. The Silfra is the most beautiful, most interesting lake in all of Iceland and the nicest part, easy access for recreational divers and snorkelers.

It is the clearest water in the world, its visibility exceeds a 100m.  many experienced divers come to Iceland with the specific reason of just seeing and being able to dive in the Silfra. It is not experienced divers that can come and enjoy this beautiful underwater world filled with lave rock, made up of sand and beautiful algae. Silfra is the only place in the world where you can snorkel or dive between continental plates under clear, beautiful water.

The place is not for scuba divers only, this is a heaven for free diving as well due to the numerous holes and cracks to go through, you can even meet an occasional trout resting. The water is so clean that you can take out your regulator and take a sip of the 3 degrees Celsius cold water, which has been filtered for hundreds of years through the lava. The water is so clear that you can see virtually unlimited, your only limit being your vision, not the water clarity.

Tick this one of your bucket lists and come to enjoy the stunning lake and of course, the surrounding, beautiful areas of Iceland. It will be money well spent, and that is a guarantee. There are many fun activities to indulge yourself in when you make the best choice of visiting Iceland. Without giving too much away, as you have to see this with your own naked eyes, you can see how the light plays on the surface like glittering diamonds. And then see how the sun sends its rays straight down into the depths creating rainbows on the rocks, whenever it touches.
